However, they were able to device a way on how to know what time it is by looking at the sun. It isn't hard to to know how to know the time from the sun. How to read the time from the sun

The sun always rises in the east and sets in the west, therefore, you can tell what the time is just by looking at the sun's location in the sky.

In the morning, when you look at the rising sun, you can tell the time. It is positioned at the horizon. This means that the time is approximately 6:00am. Easy to tell the time from the sun right?




When the sun is about 45 degree's up from the horizon in the east, you can also tell what time it is. The time is approximately 9:00am. When the sun is anywhere between the horizon and 40° from the horizon, you can look at the position of the sun and approximate the time ( 7,8 am) depending of its closeness to the horizon or its distance from the horizon.

Also, you can know when its 12:00 noon by looking at the sun. Its very easy. When the sun is directly above your head, it simply means that its noon. Easy to know the time from the sun right!. When the sun is anywhere between 45°east and the top of your head, you can know that the time is approximately 10am or 11am.

That's not all. When the sun is about 45° above the horizon in the west, it means that the time should be approximately 3:00pm. When the sun is any where between noon and 45° from the horizon in the west, you can know that the time is approximately 2oclock or 2oclock depending on the position of the sun.

Finally, when you look to the west and the sun is on the horizon, it means that the time is around 6:00pm. When the sun is anywhere between the horizon to the west and 45° up from the horizon in the west, it means that the time is around 4pm or 5pm.


So generally,
1. when the sun is at the horizon in the east, the time is approximately 6:00am

2. When the sun is about 45° up from the horizon in the east, the time approximately 9:00am.

3. When the sun is 90° up from either horizons, that is the sun is directly above your head, the time is approximately 12:00 noon.

4. When the sun is 45° above the horizon to the west, the time is approximately 3:00pm.

5. When the sun is on the horizon in the west, the time is approximately 6:00pm.
