Cameroon at Risk!! - FIRST CASE OF CORONA VIRUS CONFIRMED IN CAMEROON

Cameroon's Minister of Public Health has announced on Friday, the 6th of March, 2020, the presence of a worldwide dangerous virus in Cameroon. 


The COVID-19 says the minister is associated with a 55 year old French National who arrived Yaounde Cameroon On the 24th of February.

The the French citizen has been placed in isolation in the care center of the Yaounde regional hospital for intense appropriate care. He also appreciates the monitoring procedure put in place by his units which made it efficiently to have detected this case.


"The Minister of Public Health reassures the opinion that all measures are taken by the government to contain the possible risks of the spread of the virus. Also, the Minister of Public Health calls for everyone's vigilance and respect for hygiene basic rules". 


In addition, a press conference will be given as soon as possible for more information, the toll-free number "1510" remains open, "said the minister's press release.

While Cameroon is barely coping with it's medical system, many worry how the country will be able to counter further spread of the disease.

The Cameroon Renaissance Movement party, MRC has said the virus risk spreading faster and further in the country, given that the measures taken by the government of Cameroon to prevent or handle The corona Virus in Cameroon are insufficient.

In a Communique, the party's National secretory in charge of health says
appropriate measures to contain The corona virus in Cameroon have not been taken by the government of Cameroon even after the announcement of at least 4 cases in Nigeria.
The MRC of Prof. Maurice Kamto says the government has failed in training of hospital officials to manage cases of the Coronavirus in Cameroon. Among others, they cited


  • Lack of national prevention control plan for Corona virus in Cameroon
  • Absence of conformed treatment center
  • failure to train health officials on the prevention and control of the virus
  • absence of stock of medicine that can be used to handle suspected and confirmed cases of the disease.
